Rocky Crest Golf Resort: A Wild Place!

There's no shortage of wildlife here at Rocky Crest Golf Resort! From bucks, does, fawns and foxes, to black bears, bald eagles, turtles, and turkey - there's a good chance you will catch a glimpse of some wildlife when visiting us here in Muskoka.

One of our guests who dined at On The Green Bistro at the Club House earlier this summer was lucky enough to catch a glimpse of some deer while dining on the patio; "This was our first visit to this restaurant at Rocky Crest Resort. We also enjoyed our experience at the other two, but this bistro has it all. It’s a beautiful building. A deer wandered onto the green while we were there. The server was patient, polite and friendly. The three of us enjoyed our meals very much. We’ll be back!!" - Open Table Review, June 14, 2022.

There is no question there are TONS of deer here with this neck of the woods being home to many natural game trails. When the deer are traveling across the 18th fairway they are coming up from the resort taking the trail that cuts near our condos. Another place you will find frequent sightings of deer is at the top end of the driving range - they will then cross hole No. 9, then hole No. 1, then hole No. 10 and then onto further points on the property.

Rocky Crest is also home to plenty of other animals like moose, black bears, turtles, turkey, chipmunks, wood peckers and even the odd sighting of bald eagles. If you are in the right spot at the right time, you will likely catch a glimpse of a few of these beautiful animals. Check out some of the photos below that have been taken here at Rocky Crest over the years.

Lake Joseph is filled with all sorts of species of fish too. You will find lake trout, northern pike, rock bass, small mouth bass, large mouth bass and more. Canoes and kayaks are available to all guests staying at the resort - so if you have a fishing license, why not try your luck at catching one of these incredible fish, we've had tons of guests have success fishing right from our docks too.

You will find many more species of animals here; from ducks, loons and racoons, to frogs, salamanders and sakes - there's quit literally no shortage of wildlife here. We have some great summer and fall family packages still available, so why not book your vacation to Muskoka today and come check out some of the wildlife here in beautiful cottage country.
